Liya Mira and Moritz Muller share their passion for wood fired ceramics and work side by side, slowly making one pot at a time. Liya graduated from the National Art School in Sydney after successfully completing her honours degree. Moritz was taught by different Australian potters and when meeting Liya in 2014 the couple decided to build their own Japanese inspired anagama wood kiln that they now fire annually in Robertson, N.S.W. Liya and Moritz travel to different parts of Australia to dig up their own clay. They both wheel throw and hand build their works, but the magic happens during the wood firing- a process that takes a few weeks to prepare and about 4 days to fire. Liya and Moritz love that wood firing is often unpredictable-ash and fire create the glazes and the results can never be repeated. Each pot is one of a kind and that's the beauty of it.
